About Us

The Family Information Group (FIG) is a registered charity. It is managed by a committee who are mainly local parents who currently use the service, or who have used it in the past.

The charity was set up in 1981 as an information service for parents of children with disabilities. Over the years it has become a service provider, providing childcare for children with disabilities and children in need.

Ethos

Our intent is to nurture all children of all abilities in a safe, inclusive and supportive environment. To foster a rich, engaging environment that stimulates each child’s natural curiosity and supports their overall development, encompassing cognitive, physical, emotional and social growth.

We have many long standing parents who return with younger siblings as they see how their children develop and thrive as they grow with us.

We have great respect for the individual learning pace and style of each child and provide an environment where they are given autonomy to learning through play, take managed risks and build resilience as well as strong independent skills.

Our Vision

  1. To have the independence and confidence to meet their own needs.
  2. To begin to develop the social skills to form relationships with their peers and beyond.
  3. All children to be able to communicate effectively in their own way.
